Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that consistency is Harry Kane’s major attribute that has made him a force to reckon with, although he believes that the English forward is not the only source of worry for the Premier League leaders when Arsenal face Bayern Munich on Tuesday.
The Gunners are no strangers to Bayern Munich, who visit Emirates Stadium on Tuesday for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash. Arsenal are making the quarterfinal of the UEFA Champions League for the first time in close to a decade, and they face a team that was their nemesis as Arsenal lost 8-1 the last time the two clashed, but Arteta believes this fixture will be different.
While Arteta admits that facing Harry Kane, who is lethal against Arsenal, is a big deal because of his consistency, he reiterates that stopping him alone isn’t enough, but stopping his teammates is a more important task.
“Consistency. When you look at his numbers over the last 10 years, it’s unbelievable what he’s done. He can score in many different ways, he’s got the service, and the players around him are also to provide those opportunities, and this is what we have to try to avoid. It’s not only him! I think that the individuals that they have, all the individual qualities of all those players and him in particular, and the ability that he has. The best thing to do is what we do collectively and try to promote certain things.” Arteta said.
Arsenal goes to the game in good form, having defeated Brighton 3-0 at the weekend in the Premier League, which keeps them at the top of the Premier League table on goal difference as they have 71 points as second place Liverpool, who drew with Manchester United on Sunday.
Bayern Munich are having one of their worst seasons in a long time as the UEFA Champions League realistically remains their only chance of winning a title this season as they trail Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, who need just one more win to emerge champions.
