Arsenal are surely a dark horse ahead of the Premier League season as they have made some great moves in the transfer market. They have secured some great signings and the fans will hope that the new signings will boost their fortunes going into the new campaign. Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe is very positive about the signings but one player that has caught his mind was the signing of former Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus.
A lot of people were skeptical about his move to North London as they highlighted how he never managed to make a place for him in Pep Guardiola’s starting eleven and could not even replace Sergio Aguera when he was gone. Jesus was mostly known for his ability to play in multiple positions and he did it with aplomb for the Cityzens. But since joining Arsenal it looks like he will be vested with the opportunity of leading the lines in Mikel Arteta’s system.
Gabriel Jesus has already scored seven goals in preseason for Arsenal in five matches and is looking in sensational form. Recently sharing his thoughts on the preseason and the new players on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE podcast, Smith Rowe highlighted, “The players that have come back [from loans], I already know how good they are. So it’s not a surprise to see how good they are and how well they are doing.”
““But from the new players, I think Gabriel Jesus… I didn’t actually realise how sharp he was. Obviously playing against him it’s different, you see him watching Man City before. But when you actually see him in training… I’ve been telling my friends, they’re always asking, and I’m like ‘he’s ridiculous’,” Smith Rowe felt that Jesus has been the most impressive player in the preseason for Arsenal.
Despite playing in several positions at Manchester City and not getting adequate gametime, Jesus scored 13 goals and provided 13 assists in 41 matches across all competitions last season. Although he did not go berserk with his goal scoring tally, he was decent enough. Currently by the looks of it, Jesus may just flourish at Arsenal changing the opinion of several people all around the globe.
Arteta needs the Brazilian international to lead the lines as he puts a lot of trust on him as Arsenal struggled majorly in attack last season as they missed out on Champions League football just by a whisker. So it will be make or break season for Gabriel Jesus who will be back at his natural position in North London.
