Norwegian midfielder and Arsenal skipper Martin Odegaard has given Arsenal an injury boost after he returned to training after missing twelve games and two months of actions for the Gunners.
Odegaard damaged his ankle ligaments on international duty in September and has been out since then but he has returned to training with the Gunners set to face Italian side Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League League phase on Wednesday.
Arsenal’s recent struggles makes the return of the 25-year-old right on time and while he may not feature against the Italians on Wednesday, weekend’s London derby with Chelsea may have just come right on time.
Mikel Arteta’s side have endured a poor run of form of late having won just one point from a possible nine having lost to Newcastle and Bournemouth while a 2-2 draw with Liverpool is their only bright spark in the Premier League in their last three fixtures in the league.
Arsenal also saw their sporting director Edu exit his position earlier this week and reports have indicated that the Gunners’ boss, Mikel Arteta, will have a huge say in who comes in as the next sporting director.
Edu returned to Arsenal in the technical director capacity in July 2019 and was promoted in November 2022, overseeing the men’s, women’s, and academy football.
Edu wished the club and its supporters only good things and all the very best, saying that it was time to pursue a different challenge and that Arsenal will always remain in his heart.
“This was an incredibly hard decision to make. Arsenal have given me the opportunity to work with so many amazing people and the chance to be a part of something so special in the club’s history. I’ve loved working with so many great colleagues across our men’s, women’s, and academy teams, especially Mikel, who has become a great friend.” Edu said.
The North Londoners have also been linked with Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak as a potential January transfer target to solidify the striking department.
