A comfortable 2-0 win over Sevilla at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening has sent Arsenal top of the group with nine points after three wins from four UEFA Champions League group stage games. The Gunners dominated the game as Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard got the goals that sent them closer to the knockout stage.
If the North London club shows a similar performance and scoreline in their next UEFA Champions League against RC Lens at home, then the Premier League side will reach the knockout stage.
However, Mikel Arteta’s will have to do better in front of goal after scoring a goal in each half in a fixture they dominated with 11 attempts at goal while Sevilla’s only shot on target and only corner came in stoppage time.
Bukayo Saka provided the opener on the half-hour mark as Leandro Trossard gave the hosts the lead, the provider turned scorer four minutes after the hour mark from a Gabriel Martinelli’s assist.
Arsenal goalscorer Leandro Trossard admitted that his teammates created a lot of chances, played well, and had a perfect night, saying that they want to win both games left in the group stage.
“We played so well and created a lot. It’s a perfect night for us. That’s why you play football – for nights like this. The crowd has been incredible, and we wanted to give something back to them, so it’s a great win for us. When I saw Jorginho on the ball I knew he would put it in behind for Bukayo Saka. It’s a great team goal, and it set us up for the rest of the game. We want to win both games [left in the group stages], and that’s how we will approach it.” Leandro Trossard said.
Arsenal’s next fixture is a clash with Burnley in the Premier League at the weekend.
