French marksman Alexandre Lacazette is in excellent goalscoring form for Arsenal as he recently scored the decisive equaliser in their 3-3 draw against West Ham United. There are already talks that Lacazette should be Arsenal’s starting centre forward instead of Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
Ahead of their match against Liverpool, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta also praised the Frenchman for his phenomenal work rate which has created a difference for the Gunners overall.
When asked about Lacazette’s current form and his importance to the team, Arteta said, “He has been in really good form for months now.
“He is sustaining that level, scoring goals and providing the team with something different as well. His work rate has been phenomenal and it’s what we want.
“We need those type of players hitting the best level because over the course of the season we have been missing goals, that creativity in the final third and we need those players to step in and make the difference for the team.”
However there is a huge chance that Arsenal may lose Lacazette as he only has a year left on his contract at the end of this season and clubs like Atletico Madrid, Roma and Sevilla are interested in the French forward. Los Rojiblancos are the most serious suitors as they are already weighing up a move this summer.
However, the Spanish tactician is not much concerned with the transfer rumours as he cleared the air that the contractual talks with Lacazette will be held once the season is over.
“I’m always happy when people talk about our players and speculate,” Arteta added. “That means they are doing well and getting attention from other clubs.
“The situation with Laca we will address in the summer, speak to him, propose the future we want and that’s it. Now I just want players focused and only focused on performing and getting the best out of them for the team.”
Arteta revealed that the upcoming few months will determine the future of the club. It will decide what plans the club will have going into the summer and how much money will be made available for the potential signings.
“Everything is related to where we are, how much we win and where we are playing next season. There are no exceptions.
“We all need to be clear with that and more with the context we have right now in our industry,” he concluded.
