Tina’s World cup-winning coach Lionel Scaloni has hinted at a possible exit from his whole role as the head coach of the Argentinian national team just hours after seeing Argentina b Brazil 1-0 at the Maracana stadium in a FIFA World Cup qualification game played early Wednesday.
Argentina ended Brazil’s record unbeaten run at home for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers with a 1-0 win thanks to a 63rd-minute strike from Nicolas Otamendi.
After the game, the manager reminisced on his current passion and energy for the job, which he had spent five years on. The 45-year-old has since helped the team to the Copa America in 2021 before their World Cup triumph in Qatar last year.
Scaloni, who succeeded Jorge Sampaoli as Argentina’s boss in August 2018, was briefly in charge of the under-20 side, but now, he seems ready to vacate the senior national team seat for someone with more energy.
“Argentina needs a coach who has all the energy possible and who is well. I need to stop the ball and start thinking; I have a lot of things to think about during this time. It’s not goodbye or anything, but I need to think because the bar is very high, and it’s complicated to keep going, and it’s complicated to keep winning. These guys are making it difficult, so I need to think about it for a while. I will talk to the FA president and the players afterwards.” said Scaloni.
Argentina and Tottenham defender Cristian Romero was sure and also hoped that Scaloni would continue and that the players would try to convince him.
Argentina’s first-ever away win over Brazil in World Cup qualifying moved them two points clear at the top of the table.
The win didn’t come easy as the game was delayed for about 30 minutes due to crowd problems.
