Ghanaian defender Baba Rahman has joined newly promoted Spanish side RCD Mallorca on a loan deal that will see him spend the 2019/2020 season under Spanish gaffer Vincente Moreno.
This move marks his fifth loan spell since joining Chelsea F.C from German side Augsburg on the 15th of August 2015. The Ghanaian star has found it difficult to establish himself in his parent club since his fine debut season where he made 23 appearances for the London side.
Rahman made his Chelsea debut in a 4-0 win against Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv in a UEFA Champions League tie. The left-back also made his Premier League debut against Aston Villa with the blues winning 2-0
Parent club Chelsea was willing to offer the Ghanaian a one-year contract extension, a move that was confirmed by the club’s official site earlier today.
The Ghanaian star spent the first half of the previous season at FC Schalke, managing just two Bundesliga appearances before moving over to French side FC Reims where he made an impressive eleven appearances with a goal.
Rahman plays for the Ghanaian national team earning over 20 caps with the black stars.
The left-back was included in Coach Kwesi Appiah’s squad in the 2019 Africa cup of nations. Rahman played three matches the entire campaign and provided two assists.
The Black stars of Ghana crashed out at the round of 16 phases of the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The 25-year-old will be hoping to help lengthen the stay of RCD Mallorca in the Spanish top tier division. The Spanish side is placed 14th on the league table winning just one of their last three games losing to both Levante UD and Real Sociedad.
He is a natural left-back but can also slot in as a midfielder, he is a good dribbler, an excellent tackler but lacks concentration and composure.
