Argentine winger Angel Di Maria is close to completing his move to Juventus as he could sign his contract with the Serie A giant today.
Reports have emerged from Argentina that the right-sided forward, who had taken weeks to consider his decision after leaving Paris as a free agent, could become a Juventus player from today.
This is happening after considering offers from Barcelona.
After agreeing to the Turin move, Juventus stepped up negotiations rapidly over the last few days, and they are working out the final details on a one-year contract worth circa €7.5m per season plus performance-related bonuses.
Relevo reports that Di Maria will sign the contract with Juventus today while he remains on vacation in Spain. This means that he might have had a medical already in secret.
Di Maria, an Olympic winner, already has 122 senior caps for Argentina, scoring 25 goals, and won the Copa America last summer.
The 34-years will also want to end his career in Argentina. This could be the reason why he wanted just a year deal. So, a return to Rosario Central, where he started his career before moving to Europe for Benfica in 2007, is on the card.
After leaving the Portuguese league, Di Maria moved to Real Madrid, Manchester United, and then PSG, where he had been since 2015.
Juve will be happy about the latest development as Max Allegri made him a priority signing.
Now that Di Maria is about to complete his move, it seems the club are moving to another signing in the person of Roma player Nicolò Zaniolo.
According to reports, the Turin giants are desperate to sign the young lad, having held a new meeting this week. This has made Roma look to Domenico Berardi or Gonçalo Guedes as replacements.
It is now left for the Turin club t meet the asking price of €50-60m.
In case they are not ready to pay up to that, the Giallorossi are prepared to accept one or more players as part of an exchange deal.
