Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has stated that he feels good ahead of the UEFA Champions League second-leg quarter-final fixture against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as both teams Clash on Tuesday.
A draw would be enough for Real Madrid to go through after a 2-0 victory in the first leg at Santiago Bernabeu. The Los Lagos also are in from winning four of their last five matches, including a 4-0 win over Barcelona in their Copa Del Rey second-leg semi-final clash.
The La Liga champions also won their weekend fixture in league with a 2-0 win over Cadiz on Saturday. Such performances have increased the confidence of the manager, who also describes the Spaniards as the King of the competition.
“We feel good, and we’re motivated, as we always are for matches in this competition. We’ll need a complete performance because we all know that anything can happen in this competition. We have to go step by step, and we want to be in the semi-finals. If we do that, we’ll have done well, as reaching consecutive semi-finals is impressive. This club is the King of this competition.” Ancelotti said.
Real Madrid’s confidence is understandable not only because of their form but also because of Chelsea’s miserable form. The Blues lost 1-2 at home to Brighton at the weekend; it was another bad performance making it the fourth loss in six games in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Chelsea can take solace in the fact that they lost their first league round of 16 fixture against Dortmund 1-0 in Germany before overturning the tie in the second leg with a 2-0 victory that saw them through into the quarter-final.
However, this time around, Chelsea will need to score three unreplied goals to move into the next round of the competition.
