Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has denied a loss of concentration from his team as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Rayo Vallecano in La Liga on Sunday. Real Madrid, who went into the fixture comfortably at the top of the standings, had a lot of media attention during the week about the possibility of having French forward Kylian Mbappe joining the team.
Mbappe announced his decision to leave PSG at the end of the season on a free transfer, with several reports believing Mbappe will join Real Madrid, although they also stated that the capital club gave Mbappe a lesser wage offer than they did last year.
Nevertheless, many believe that that would not stop the French striker from joining Loss Blancos at the end of this season. Real Madrid went into the game at Vallecano as heavy favorites, taking the lead expectedly through Joselu in the third.
However, Raul De Tomas’s penalty in the 27th minute ensured that the hosts picked a point from the fixture. Real Madrid also finished the game with ten men, and at the end of the game, the result released concerns about the possibility of a loss of focus by Real Madrid.
However, the Italian manager believes that his team did not lose concentration.
“When is the team not focused? We are always focused, today too. It’s very difficult to reproach the team for anything this season. It’s not easy to win here. You have to play a different game; the pitch is small, you have to adapt.” Ancelloti said.
Real Madrid missed the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table to 8 points ahead of Girona, although they still have six points ahead of the second-placed team, who will play against Athletic Club on Monday.
Girona could reduce the point gap between themselves and Real Madrid to three points if they win.
