Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has stated that he hopes Sunday’s 4-1 win over Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will spur the Los Blancos to more success this season.
Brazilian winger Vinicius Junior and his compatriot Rodrygo ran the show for Ancelotti with a first-half hattrick for the former while the latter added one more in the second half to secure the victory and Real’s first title of the season.
Carlo Ancelotti now has the same number of trophies as Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane and the win is Real Madrid’s 13th Spanish Super Cup win. Ancelloti is now just two trophies behind only Miguel Munoz, who led Real Madrid’s era of absolute trophy-winning in the 1960s.
He mentioned that the team has a high level of individual confidence and has now become dangerous to rivals and that they will take advantage of that.
“We’re very dangerous and create a lot of problems for our rivals. We have to take advantage of this moment, keep working, and enjoying the atmosphere. I’m on a cloud, but my mood can also be lowered. We have to keep working and build from here. There are many fans here who have supported and helped us. I’m happy to have shown you our best version. We are confident about what we have done from the beginning of the season until now. We don’t need strokes of confidence. We have a very strong team with individuality of a very high level and with a very motivational atmosphere,” Ancelloti said.
Vinicius, whose hattrick was completed with a penalty just before the end of the first half, was brought off early in the second half so as to rest him and avoid any potential injury.
Real Madrid will return to La Liga action on Sunday against Almeria, and Barcelona, who missed the opportunity to extend their Spanish Super Cup record to 15th, will play against Real Betis.
