The relationship between Spanish forward Alvaro Morata and Atlético Madrid will continue for the next four years after reports indicated that the former Chelsea striker has agreed on a new deal until June 2027.
In June, Atletico Madrid offered a new deal to Álvaro Morata worth four years despite the fact that he recently signed until 2026 with the possibility to extend for one year more, and he’s expected to stay at Atléti after speaking to Simeone.
The 30-year-old striker scored 13 goals and made 2 assists in 36 La Liga appearances for the Madrid club sound as they finished third on the La Liga table, although he failed to score in five UEFA Champions League appearances for the Rojiblancos last season.
This summer, he has been linked with a possible exit from the club, with Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter Milan all linked. In March, Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone explained that he was happy with Alvaro Morata’s performance for the club.
“When we sign a player, we always envision his best side; some adapt faster than others; more than for his goals, I am happy for the work he is putting in and for how he has adapted to the team. Those who have hierarchy take less time to adapt, he is not a kid, and he meets the conditions we set for him.” Simeone said.
Morata has been more or less a journeyman since breaking out at Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, playing for the likes of Chelsea, Juventus, and a brief return to Real Madrid between 2016-2017. He will hope to lead Atletico Madrid to reclaim the La Liga title when they begin their 2023/2024 La Liga campaign with a game against Granada at Wanda Metropolitan on Monday, August 14.
Asides from the return of multiple players on loan to Atletico Madrid, the club also brought in Caglar Soyuncu from Leicester City on a free transfer while signing Antoine Griezmann on a permanent de as well as Cesar Azpilicueta from Chelsea on a free transfer.
