Alexis and Vecino set to depart from Inter Milan

Matias Vecino and Alexis Sanchez have left Inter Milan as they begin new chapters in their careers.

30-year-old Vecino joined the Nerazurri from Fiorentina €24m joined the Nerazurri in 2017. The midfielder had put pen to paper on a three-year contract with Lazio after undergoing his medical.

He left Inter as a free agent after not renewing his contract.

Vecino, an Uruguay international, spent most of his career in Italy. Apart from his stint with Fiorentina, he played on loan at Cagliari and Empoli.

Vecino had worked with Maurizio Sarri at Empoli in the 2014-15 season. The pair have reunited now at the Studio Olimpico.

According to a statement on Lazio’s official website, Vecino will soon resume training with the group after putting pen to paper.

Last season, he played 23 games for Inter, scoring one Serie A goal.

This means he could begin training with the Biancocelesti fully on Wednesday.

Sanchez, on his part, terminated his contract with the club by mutual consent after weeks of negotiations.

According to reports, the Chilean is expected to sign for Olympique Marseille.

The 33-year-old Chile international still has a year left on his contract with Inter. Since he is not part of Simone Inzaghi’s plans, the club decided that he could not continue as the highest-paid player in the squad.

Sanchez earned €7m per season after joining Inter as a free agent from Manchester United in September 2020. He had been there before that on loan for the 2019-20 campaign.

It was gathered that he was paid €4.5m after his agent rejected €4m to tear up the deal a year early.
