Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been in devastating form for Fulham FC so far in the current English Championship League season.
A virtuoso performance from the Fulham striker on Tuesday night against Reading FC has further underlined the importance of the man who has so far been at the heart of a prolific Fulham side. The Cottagers have been a free-scoring side this season and are currently joint top scorers in the English second tier with 18 goals. The lion’s share of which has come from the impressive Serb.
Mitrovic scored twice in the 4-1 demolition of a hapless Reading side, taking him straight to the top of the goals scorers chart for the league with seven goals scored from 10 games played. Fulham Captain Tom Cairney also scored twice in the match. The victory catapulted Fulham up the table to 4th with 18 points – two behind league leaders Leeds United FC.
The big man from Serbia had been on a mini-goal drought before the game against the Royals at the Madejski Stadium, with his last goal coming against Cardiff City FC way back in August. His performance on Tuesday night drew praise from Fulham supporters. A section of which took to twitter celebrating his return to goalscoring form, describing him as “King” and extolling his “dominating” performance. Mitrovic also took to his personal Instagram to express his delight posting.
“Amazing night and amazing 3 points!” Former Club teammate and newly acquired Tottenham Hotspur FC forward Ryan Sessegnon commented as well on his ex-strike partner’s performance, hailing him as one of football’s greats posting an emoji of a goat under Mitrovic’s comments.
Mitrovic, who many have said is a top-level striker good enough for the English Premier League, will be keen to help his Fulham side get back to the top tier of English football. Another positive result this time at home to Charlton Athletic FC in a London derby on Saturday, October 5th will be just the tonic the Cottagers need to boost their promotion hopes.
Mitrovic will look to maintain his goal scoring form against The Addicks and help seal a home win when the game kicks off at 12:30 PM at Craven Cottage.
Fulham is backed at 1.43 to win his next fixture, while their opponents Charlton Athletic are available at 7.09 to claim the win.
