Ahead of the Milan derby in the Serie A this weekend, AC Milan are sweating over the fitness of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ivory Coast midfielder Franck Kessie.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic could feature as he managed to escape a big injury, a plus for a team that have been decimated by injury issues and Covid infection. The Swedish forward was substituted in the team’s clash with Juventus last weekend with fears raised over a possible time on the treatment table.
However, after assessments from team doctors, the 40-year-old avoided lesions to the Achilles tendon in his right leg. This means that the striker has enough time to recover for the derby and a top of the table clash on February 5.
Meanwhile, Franck Kessie’s participation at the Africa Cup of Nations has ended after his team were knocked out of the competition by Egypt on penalties yesterday.
However, Kessie was substituted on the half-hour mark into the game for a knock. He will conduct tests to reveal the extent of the injury while the AC Milan doctors and their Ivorian counterparts are both working together to handle his fitness.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan has bolstered its squad as Robin Gosens is set to join the team with a medical scheduled for Thursday ahead of €25M move from Atalanta. The Seria A Champions are also close to securing Felipe Caicedo from Genoa on Thursday too.
Gosen’s move was reported by agent Paolo Busardo.
“The deal with Inter is done, The move is worth €25m plus bonuses, tomorrow he will have his medical. Robin is super happy.” agent Paolo Busardò told newsmen.
AC Milan and Inter Milan occupy the second and first position on the Seria A table respectively and both teams will clash when the Seria A resumes in February from the break.
