As Rafael Leao is yet to decide his future, AC Milan might be planning to replace him with Gerard Deulofeu.
The Spanish winger have been having a good season with Udinese. According to reports, Milan have reignited their interest in him.
The 28-year-old Spanish winger has scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 31 league outings.
With his contract set to expire in 2024, the former Everton and Watford could make the jump to a bigger club in the summer.
TuttoUdinese.it reports that Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara have been keeping a close eye on Deulofeu this season. Thus, Milan may make a move for him in the summer.
On the other hand, Udinese is also monitoring Tommaso Pobega, who is currently on loan with Torino. Since Pobega will be available for the next summer, a deal could be ironed out on this basis.
The Rossoneri could add more firepower to their squad as they look forward to the takeover of the club by Investcorp. The takeover could be confirmed later this month.
Meanwhile, Milan wants to tie down Rafael Leao but may have to change their stance as they face an uphill battle considering the interest from abroad.
According to reports, the Rossoneri are aware of the genuine interest in the 22-year-old Portuguese forward. Thos os why they’re hoping to lock him down with a new contract.
However, they might not be able to afford his salary, but his agent Mendes is now pushing for a €5m plus add-ons salary, something which the Milanese club are unconvinced about.
It is now left for Milan to decide fast. It was gathered that Leao’s renewal depends on the Bahraini investment fund.
It is expected that Leao will put pen to paper should this go through. Milan could even pass more players who want to make Leao a symbol of the club for years to come.
