The 2022 Scottish Snooker Open qualifying series continued in Cannock on Wednesday as more players secure qualifications for the next round.
Thepchaiya Un-Nooh was the latest to advance to the next round after claiming a slim win over [Jordan] Brown, a former Welsh Open defending Champi0n who took his bow as he succumbed to a 4-3 defeat.
Thailand-born capped off the game with a break of 84 after the initial accumulation of a 104 break to draw level at 2-2. Brown, however, fought his way back and went ahead, establishing a 3-2 lead.
There were chances for him [Brown] to further stretch the lead and seal a win in the sixth frame. Unfortunately for Brown, Un- Nooh won it on the last pink ball before totally controlling the seventh frame to join the last 64.
In the other game, Hossein Vafaei crossed to the next round after a hard-fought 4-3 win over Ian Burns.
Popularly nicknamed the [“Potting Prince of Persia “], Vafaei had to make a break of 74 in the third frame. That break, however, seemed not satisfactory enough as the 81st World ranked Ian [Burns] capitalized on that, outscoring his opponent with a series of Knocks of 79,65, and 62. He [Vafaei], however, recovered quickly to nick a win at the end, which shows his h7nger and determination to sail to the coming round.
Martin Gould joined the list of qualified candidates as he also defeated Adam Duffy. The ex-German Master’s winner attained a 4-2 win.
Next is a clash at the Meadow Sporting Centre as the top World-ranked sixteens square up against other tournament participants on November 28th to December 4th, 2022, in what promises to be an exciting game.
