British professional boxer Tyson Fury toiled all night just to defeat Swedish Otto Wallin, in a match which was widely expected to be a stroll for the former champ. Fury managed to beat Otto in Las Vegas on Saturday night on points before calling out bitter rival, Deontay Wilder for a rematch.
Deontay Wilder must have been chuckling throughout the battle, as he saw his British rival labor to a victory over Otto Wallin, who is fourth on the World Boxing Association’s heavyweight rankings.
The American now reckons that he has ended Tyson Fury’s boxing career, referencing their blockbuster clash which took place late last year. The match ended in a split decision draw, and it might just be the right time to see these two men in the ring once again.
In a hard-fought match against Otto Wallin, Fury suffered a deep cut above his right eye in the 3rd round. However, the Brit was able to salvage a points-victory over the Swede, after going the fight went to distance.
Fury was in the mood for a major confrontation after his match, calling out Wilder, “I want you next, bum”. The way he said it, you would think it was The Rock calling out his greatest rival Stone Cold, in a WWE match-up. Such was the rage in his voice! He even went as far as picking a date for the rematch – February 22.
In their original fight, Wilder and Fury could not be separated as it ended in a draw, but Wilder feels the impact he had on the Gypsy King, who was left on the canvas in the 12th round of the fight, has had a lasting effect on him.
In one interview, Wilder boasted, “Anyone who saw this fight will understand that he’s not the same fighter. This is what I do to them, and I end careers”.
“I’m the baddest man on the planet, and he’s not the same fighter at all. I gave him a concussion. He’s done, and I can’t wait”, the American concluded.
Many feel that Wilder is just playing mind games with Fury, with the hope that it will dip the Gypsy King’s morale, and give him an edge. Whatever it is, we await February 22, and we are definitely going to witness a bloodbath in the ring!
