UFC Heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, has revealed that he is very confident he can stop WBC Heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury if the two of them ever meet in the ring. The Cameroonian revealed this recently in an interview with LadBible. A fight between Fury and Ngannou sounds exciting, but there is little knowledge of how the fight would play out, seeing that both men come from different sports. But even that is not enough to sway Ngannou from believing he has a fair chance in the fight.
Speaking at the interview, Ngannou said that the fact that he was even discussing the fight happening at all was something to hold on to and that nobody should count him out: “Even the fact that I’m here, we are discussing about it, something will make sense. It’s just the proof that I can make it.
“Obviously, it’s not my comfort zone. I know that he’s an expert in that discipline, but man, don’t never count me out.”
Even though Ngannou is one of the deadliest men in his sport, he recognises that his fight against Fury might prove challenging, especially if it is going to be a boxing match. But he has suggested ways to make things fair to both fighters. Last week, while speaking at a podcast, Ngannou suggested a hybrid fight with elements from both boxing and MMA: “Make it a hybrid fight, something that makes it a little uncomfortable for him as a boxer. Ideas like MMA gloves or fighting barefoot. I don’t know. We still have to figure this out.”
He also revealed that there was a 70% chance that Fury might be his next character. Ngannou, who is currently in talks with the UFC over a new agreement, has said that the fight with Fury would have to be a part of the agreement as that was the only way of ensuring it ever happens.
