This Saturday, Chris Eubank Jr would be up against Liam Smith in one of the most anticipated fights of the year. The fight has been in the works for a while now, and we would finally get to see both boxers in action this weekend.
Although there is no belt on the line for any of the middleweights, fans around the world are expecting the fight to live up to the hype it has generated, especially after the altercation between the two on Thursday during the press conference ahead of the bout.
Eubank Jr, 33, would be fighting his first match in almost a year. His last outing was in February 2022 against Liam Williams, and it ended in a victory by unanimous decision. That win marked his sixth straight win and his 32nd win from 34 fights. Eubanks Jr has a very impressive fighting record and is the favourite for the match on Saturday.
Smith also has an impressive record, with 32 wins from 36 fights. Last September, he defeated Hassan Mwakinyo by TKO in the fourth round of their bout. A former light-middleweight champion, Smith has a sterling record and would prove a tough opponent for Eubank Jr.
The two have never met in the past but from the quality of opponents they have faced over the course of their careers, it is safe to say they are evenly matched. Unlike Eubanks Jr, Smith’s last loss was less than two years ago, where he was contesting for the vacant WBO International light-middleweight title against Magomed Kurbanov.
In their press conference on Thursday, things got very heated between the two men, and it resulted in them calling each other some very offensive words. When things later got cool, the two men said they did do hate the other and blamed their reaction on what the other said.
Chris Eubank Jr vs. Liam Smith would hold this Sunday at the AO Arena, Manchester, England.
