Tyson Fury has given his opponent, Deontay Wilder, some credit ahead of their fixture this Saturday. Fury and Wilder would be meeting for the third time and Fury already has a good idea of how strong his opponent is. The British champion is not about to underrate Wilder even though he emerged victorious in the previous fixture.
Speaking at a conference recently, Fury emphasized just how strong Wilder was, saying that he is not someone to write off: “A lot of people are writing Wilder off in this fight. They almost look at him like he’s a bum. Like he can’t fight and he’s useless. You can’t write him off.”
Going on, Fury also said that all the boxers together do not match Wilder and that fighting him is like playing with an atomic bomb: “Make no mistake about this, Deontay Wilder is the most dangerous heavyweight out there. Combine them all together and they don’t make a danger like Wilder. So that’s what I’m messing with. I’m playing with an atomic bomb, messing around, clipping wires. Every time you go into the ring with Deontay Wilder you’re playing with that danger.”
Fury further compared Wilder with Klitschko, saying that Wilder was the second most dangerous boxer he was going to face after Klitschko.
All of these means that Fury is not taking any chances and is well aware of how much of a fighter Wilder really is. Their meeting in 2020 ended when Wilder’s corner threw in the towel, a move that greatly displeased Wilder as he maintained that he still had some fight left in him. The first time they say, in 2018, the fight ended in a draw. So, Fury knows what he is talking about when he says Wilder is dangerous. He is not leaving anything to chance or counting on his success in the last fight. He knows what Wilder is capable of, which means he must have been training hard to match up with him. But we wait to see.
Fury vs. Wilder III would hold this Saturday, October 9 at the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas.
