Former heavyweight champion, Floyd Mayweather, has revealed that his next fight would take place on the helipad atop Dubai’s Burj Al Arab Hotel. Mayweather would face YouTuber Money Kicks in an eight-round exhibition bout. Details of the fight have not been finalized, but it is expected to take place next month.
Mayweather’s last fight was against Logan Paul back in 2021, a fight that ended in a draw. He is expected to make a return to the ring, just a few days before he clocks 45, to face a much younger person who has no real boxing history. Mayweather, who retired in 2017, has developed an interest in facing social media stars.
In the past years, we have seen fights hold in some surprising locations, but this is the first time we are getting a fight 210m above sea level. The helipad is not new to hosting events. Tennis stars Roger Federer and Andre Agassi once played an exhibition game there, and former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua once trained on the helipad, but this is the first time a real fight would take place there. The fight is generating a lot of hype, chiefly because of its venue.
Money Kicks, real name Rashed Belhasa, is a YouTuber and influencer based in Dubai. Nothing about him suggests he has any bit of fight in him, but he as warned Mayweather, saying he does not fear any human: “I grew up with lions – I am not scared of any human being. I will never fear any human.” He also believes a lot in himself: “You never know – any punch can land, and I have heavy hands. If he underestimates me? A punch can come. Anything can happen. I am much taller than him. I’m getting there. Every day I am learning. I am still young but I’m getting better and better.” Young and inexperienced, Money Kicks knows how to talk tough. He also revealed he has been getting fighting tips from Logan Paul, a man who has gone eight rounds with Mayweather and survived unscathed.
