Amir Khan says he is still keen on the prospect of taking on Kell Brook but will assess the chances after his next bout.
Khan is back in action next month, fighting Neeraj Goyat in Saudi Arabia aiming to bounce back from his stoppage defeat to Terence Crawford in New York back in April.
Despite the setback Khan still hopes for fights with Brook and Manny Pacquiao but says all thoughts have to be put on the back burner until he hopes to get back to winning ways with victory over Goyat.
He said: “These names have always been spoken about and I really feel like those fights are still out there. “The Brook fight is still out there, definitely.
In Britain it would be a huge fight. “There are still a lot of fights that [promoter Eddie Hearn] can make for me. “I’ll see how I feel after this fight. After, I might say ‘I don’t want it anymore’. Or I might say ‘I’ve got one or two fights left’.”
Khan also spoke about his defeat to Crawford in the WBO welterweight title fight at Madison Square Garden. He said he felt the fight was going well until a low shot after which he felt he couldn’t carry on. Khan now has a record of 33 wins in 38 fights, 20 of those victories coming by a knockout.
“Maybe Goyat is thinking that I’m not who I used to be,” he added.
That I’m not the fighter I was. Maybe he thinks he can catch me, and make a name for himself. “But I’ve still got it. I feel strong and sharp and I will make no mistakes.”
Khan is at 1.04 to win his next fight with Goyat 15.00. Pacquiao also fights in July, taking on Keith Thurman and is 2.20 to win with Thurman 1.73.
