Zion Williamson dodges a question about his Duke teammate RJ Barrett after losing to the Knicks

Zion Williamson has to be one of the best players in the NBA currently when it comes to offence. The youngster has answered his critics who questioned his playstyle during his rookie season as he averaged a stupendous 26.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists while shooting 61.5% from the field.

The 20-year-old is easily one of the best offensive players in the league and though his team lost against the New York Knicks he finished the game with a commendable  34 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 assists.

It was a very tight match as both sides had the lead at some point in time and the match went on to overtime. Although the Knicks blew out the Pelicans in overtime to win 122-112 it was a very entertaining game to watch.  However, during the build-up to this game, ESPN reporter and analyst Malika Andrews interviewed Zion asking him about the New York Knicks as a team and also about his former Duke teammate R.J. Barrett. While a lot of people expected the Pelicans superstar to be very cheerful about the situation of playing his former teammate but he was more subdued and said that he was more concerned with his business out there on the court.

“I mean let me give an honest answer uh in the end of the day I’m happy for him (RJ Barrett) uh it was nice seeing him out on the court because that was my first time actually getting to play against him but it’s like my mom taught me that’s nice enough for him but I got my own business to handle over here,” Zion replied.

The response was well received by the Pelicans supporters as they felt that the face of the franchise is focused and with him they feel the team can achieve great things in coming years.

Zion also praised the Maddison Square Garden as this match was his first outing in the famed arena. He was injured during the Pelicans’ visit during his rookie season. Although the Pelicans lost the game the 20-year-old was clear that he savoured every moment at the court.

“I’m glad you asked that,” Williamson began when quizzed about his experience at the arena. “I mean, New York is the Mecca of basketball. I love playing here. I played here in college. This is my first time playing here in the pros. This atmosphere, whether they’re cheering for you, whether they’re booing for you, it’s amazing. Honestly, I think outside of New Orleans, obviously, I think this might be my favourite place to play outside of New Orleans. I can’t even lie to you.”
