Golden State Warriors haven’t yet found their A-game while playing on the road. They slipped to 0-8 while playing away after losing against Phoenix Suns by 130-119 on Wednesday night.
The team’s talisman Steph Curry once again had an outstanding night as he racked up 50 points but his efforts went in vain. The side’s head coach Steve Kerr reckons the team is lacking collective grit while playing away.
This is the first time when the Dubs have fallen to 0-8 on road since the 1989-90 season when they had a 0-9 record.
Furthermore, this was the 11th time when Curry scored 50 points in a game to tie with Allen Iverson in ninth place.
“Forget the road record, we can’t find a sustainable period of success where habits start to form and we’re in a position where we’re coming off the court feeling good about ourselves,” said Stephen Curry.
On the other hand, Kerr reckons there is no execution at either end of the court, which is leading to their downfall.
“It’s a pick-up game out there,” said Kerr. “There’s no execution at either end, no certain commitment to the group to get three stops in a row to execute on offense.”
Kerr believes the team is lacking collective effort on the court, which is why the results are not going their way.
“We lack collective grit. We’re playing a Drew League game right now,” Kerr said.
“I’ve always felt the game rewards you if you commit to the game. If you really compete together, shots go in, calls go your way, breaks fall your way, and we’re not earning any of this stuff. That’s why we are winless on the road. It’s a pick-up game.”
