Kevin Durant is considered as one of the best scorers to have ever graced the NBA. On Monday night when he took the court in Game 5 against the Milwaukee Bucks, he knew that he had to take charge of the series with Kyrie Irving failing to start due to injury and James Harden returning from one.
On the other hand, the Brooklyn Nets were 2-0 up against the Bucks but Giannis Antetokounmpo and company scripted a great comeback to level the series 2-2. Hence Game 5 was very crucial and KD dropped a magical performance where he scored a 49-point triple-double to inspire the Nets to a 114-108 win. Steve Nash’s men also took charge of the series as they are now leading 3-2.
KD proved once again why is considered one of the best and this performance was enough to shut down his doubters. When Durant was out for the entire season with an Achilles injury, a lot of experts and fans thought that he won’t return to his best anymore. But the forward has proven them wrong with his exceptional performances.
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr recently spoke about KD in an interview. The former Chicago Bulls legend was full of praises for the Nets talisman. Kerr and Durant share a great bond and has won two NBA Championships in three years. Durant during his time at Golden State formed a great trio with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson as the Warriors dominated the league for three years.
”KD is so good, and we were obviously together for three years, but to see a guy, get his shot off so easily against the greatest athletes on earth,” Kerr said.
“But think about him, he faces up and one dribble in either direction and he rises up, it is equivalent to you or I playing against a 5-year-old kid. He is stunningly talented,” he added.
The Warriors head coach went all technical and praised his jump shot which the defenders find very hard to guard. He also explained how his long wingspan of 2.25 metres works to his advantage to knock down tough shots. He also credited KD’s movement and accuracy.
Thye Nets will hope that their talisman keeps up with this form as Steve Nash will look to close out the series against the Bucks by winning Game 6.
