Damian Lillard has now joined the Milwaukee Bucks and is one of the most celebrated stars in the NBA as he pairs up with Giannis Antetokounmpo for the upcoming season. However, his failed trade move to the Miami Heat has got several people talking about Lillard.
Recently, Tyler Herro also came forward and shared his thoughts on the situation. Herro was one of the players who would have been traded to the Portland Trail Balzers if the deal had materialized.
However, after the failed trade, Herro revealed that his coach Eric Spoelstra reached out to him to explain the situation with the youngster. Spoelstra tried his best to under Herro’s situation and also shared the ambitions that he had for the franchise for the upcoming season.
Fortunately, Spoelstra and Herro have the same thoughts on the team’s expectations this season. They both want to put past disappointments on the back of them and will be looking to start afresh.
Herro recently came forward with his response to the failed trade of Damian Lillard. He revealed that the coach immediately spoke to him after the negotiations were off completely. Spoelstra is someone who has great experience in managing top superstars and he understands the importance of communication. Hence, clearing out the situation with Herro was of primary importance.
“Him (Eric Spoelstra) reaching out and wanting to connect was really important to me — to understand we’re both on the same page as to what was going to happen at that point… I put in a lot of work over the summer and I’m really excited to get going and show my improvements,” Herro revealed about the situation.
Herro was deeply touched by Spoelstra’s gesture as he is working hard in the pre-season. He recently dropped 30 points against the Memphis Grizzlies. His performances impressed Spoelstra as he will be taking a bigger role for the Heat this season.
Heat strongly considered including Herro in the proposed Lillard trade and that created a massive uncertainty for the player. While the negotiations have fallen off, Herro is keen to make the most of this opportunity. He is eager to prove himself this season to the team management.
