Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was delighted after they defeated Washington Wizards by 127-118 on Monday night. Stephen Curry was the star of the show as the talisman scored 41 points whereas Jordan Poole added 32 points to the team’s win.
Draymond Green had 17 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds. Meanwhile, the Dubs had lost four out of their last five matches and this was a crucial win for them.
“This was a big win,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said as quoted by AP. “When you’re .500, every win is a big win.”
In fact, GSW was trailing by 106-105 at one stage but Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole were able to get their team back into the contest at the fag end of the match.
“I thought that late surge was great,” Green said. “At times, I thought we were doing a pretty good job and it wasn’t falling our way. They were hitting crazy shots. But we stuck with it.”
Curry feels it was a gritty performance from his team and it was a much-needed win for the group.
“(It) was kind of a gritty, dig deep type of night,” Curry said. “A big win for us.”
Meanwhile, only Porzingis reached double-digit scores for Washington Wizards in the first half and he was held to seven points in the second half by Draymond Green and Co.
“They started to wear on him,” Wizards coach Wes Unseld Jr. said. “Draymond is one of the best defenders in the league for a reason.”
Golden State Warriors will next take on Boston Celtics on Thursday night.
