LA Lakers head coach Darvin Ham reckons the team might not be able to go all the way if Anthony Davis doesn’t stay at the top of his fitness. Davis’ career has been hampered by a plethora of injuries, especially in the last few seasons.
There is no doubt that Davis is going to play a key role in LA Lakers’ success as he is a vital cog in the team. However, Davis hasn’t been able to play consistently for the Lakers due to his injury woes.
The talisman could only play 40 matches for the Lakers in the previous season due to multiple injuries he suffered. In fact, the Lakers could not even qualify for the playoffs in the last season, and injuries to their key players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis were a major reason for their ouster.
Darvin Ham said, “This sh*t ain’t going to work without AD being right.”
Davis finished the season shooting 18.6% from beyond the arc and thus his performances were not up to the mark even when he played. In fact, a lot was expected of the Lakers trio of Anthony Davis, LeBron James, and Russell Westbrook but the big three failed to come up with a collective show.
James was once again brilliant for the Lakers as he averaged 30.3 ppg but Westbrook’s performance was disappointing in his maiden season for the team.
There is no doubt that the Lakers will be determined to turn the tables in the upcoming season and these three players are going to play a huge role. It has also been reported that the Lakers are interested to trade Russell Westbrook to Brooklyn Nets for Kyrie Irving.
