The Boston Celtics were outplayed by the Miami Heat in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals as they lost the series right at the end. The Celtics lost the game by 84-103. They did their best to turn around from a 3-0 deficit to force Game 7 but in the end, it was just not enough for Joe Mazzulla’s men.
Charles Barkley slammed the Celtics for playing so poorly. He was furious with the team and labelled them as one of the most inconsistent teams that lack discipline and played very poor basketball. He also shared that the Celtics, despite having a talented roster, have won games based on their talent pool and are not fundamentally strong.
“They played bad basketball. They’re so undisciplined and unfundamentally sound. They win games strictly on talent,” Charles Barkley slammed the Celtics after their Game 7 defeat.
The Celtics have struggled to close out games, which they should have easily put to bed. They stretched the Atlanta Hawks series to six games when they could have closed it out much earlier. They then almost lost to the Philadelphia 76ers as they lost Game 5 and went down by 3-2.
There were moments when the likes of Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and even others at times have bailed out the team with their individual brilliance. But as they came to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals, they suffered majorly for not being efficient in their play.
Many people believed that the Celtics can complete the historic turn around at home. While some expected the Heat to come back and win the series. But not many people expected Jimmy Butler and company to win by almost 20 points.
It was promised to be a tight contest but the Celtics did not show up on the night. They committed 15 turnovers and looked very chaotic in defence.
Barkley slammed this team for having so much talent but not replicating that on the court. He pointed out All NBA players such as Tatum and Brown, then Defensive Player of the Year in Marcus Smart and Sixth Man of the Year in Malcolm Brogdon. He highlighted that he ain’t shocked that the Heat won but the manner in which they dominated the Celtics was a surprise to almost everyone.
The Miami Heat will now face off against the Western heavyweight Denver Nuggets. It will be interesting to see how Jimmy Butler and company hold off Nikola Jokic and his men. It promises to be an epic NBA Finals.
