Anthony Davis and Los Angeles Lakers both have a lot to prove in the upcoming NBA season. The Purple and Gold struggled a lot last season and similarly one of the most valuable players in the league Anthony Davis was also out injured which led to the issues regarding the Lakers as they fell short of the postseason.
Hence there were questions whether the veteran pieces can play through the entire season as they compete in the Western Conference. However this season people are expecting to see a turn around as LeBron James will be entering his 20th year and AD is back, fitter than ever. The former New Orleans Pelicans man will be looking to play throughout the season and remain injury free. He has all the qualities needed in an MVP and if he manages to stay fit the Lakers will flourish big time.
There is no doubt that AD is an elite baller and is someone who can lead this outfit to the title as he did with LeBron James in 2020. However the questions raised are on his health and injury concerns. AD’s injury struggles are well known as he has only played 76 matches out of a possible 164 games over the last couple of seasons.
LeBron James will surely bring his charisma into play as he did last season as well but with the support of Anthony Davis, the Lakers won’t be making it to the playoffs let alone going deep into the postseason. While AD has struggled with injuries, Russell Westbrook has also failed to put up numbers that he is known for. The former Washington Wizards point guard who was known for his ability to pump up triple doubles at will has struggled to connect his shots. He has seen a massive decline in his shot percentage for the first time in his career and it is very concerning for him and for the Lakers.
While there were rumours of Westbrook getting traded, the management has stuck with him mainly due to the fact that they did not get the deals that they wanted in return for the point guard. However Westbrook will also be looking to prove a point and this will be a redemption year for him.
Recently in “The Undisputed’, NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe bluntly made some statement regarding Anthony Davis which are actually true as Sharpe wants AD to come back stronger than ever and silence his doubters who has been questioning his greatness and talent. “AD are you that dog or not. Are you Top 75 or not? All these mantras sound good but you better win some ballgames.”
AD has already told ESPN that he will play with a chip on his shoulder and is very excited to get back on the court and start a new season. The eight time All Star does not have much option than to prove his doubters wrong.
