Los Angeles Lakers head coach Darvin Ham has said the main goal is to go all the way in the forthcoming NBA season. The Lakers were clean swept by eventual champions Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference finals in NBA 2022-23 season.
Meanwhile, the Lakers have the oldest rosters in the tournament but Ham has full faith that his team has the capability to be the title contenders. LeBron James, 38, is still going strong whereas Anthony Davis was also in good form in the last season. These two are once again going to hold the key for the Lakers but the team will want a collective show.
“Hell yeah; without question. “That’s what we’re in it for,” Ham said when asked if they are still eyeing for the Larry O’Brien trophy.
“We’re about winning around here and winning big. It’s not just about, ‘Hey we made the playoffs.’ We’re trying to get to that pinnacle and conquer it.
Meanwhile, the Lakers haven’t roped in any big names in the off-season, they have added decent players to support James and Davis.
“Rightfully so, but our franchise has that tag of chasing down stars and trying to acquire the best possible talent across the board. But sometimes I think the way the game is trending, it’s all about cohesiveness. It’s not just about winning right now. It’s about being able to win right now and have sustainability pieces.”
The Lakers have re-signed players like D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, and Austin Reaves. Ergo, the trio will look to stand tall to the faith shown in them by the franchise. The Lakers have also added the services of Jaxson Hayes and Gabe Vincent.
The Lakers will want to tick the right boxes in the next season and Ham will aim to get the best out of his players.
