The Golden State Warriors have emerged as the NBA Championship contenders this season and a lot of credit goes to chief coach Steve Kerr. The former NBA star has assigned proper roles for each and every player handing them more clarity to carry out their job while they are on the court. Although the Warriors have the likes of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green they still need the role players to perform at their best to be that NBA Championship contender.
Over the years Steve Kerr has been one of the stalwarts in the NBA. He has been one of the most coveted coaches and a former star who has played with some of the greats of the game. His experience of the game is second to none as he has played with Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Scottie Pippen and many other NBA greats of the past and that helps him in his coaching days. His coaching has only elevated the level of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson as he has always played according to the Splash Brothers’ strength as players.
Kerr has been a part of the modern day NBA as a player and also a coach. He has seen the development of three point shooting back in his playing days to the implementation of the long-range shooting with the Splash Brothers at his helm. Kerr has been an important member of that revolution that changed the NBA for good.
Therefore it will be very difficult for Kerr to pinpoint only one incident from his coaching or playing career as he has played with some of the NBA greats and also coached some of the current legends. But surprisingly Steve Kerr did have a personal best moment as he came up with Klay Thompson’s 37 point quarter against the Sacramento Kings a few years ago. At first, it may seem like a normal high scoring game for Thompson but it was a record-setting game for the Dubs star.
Kerr was brave enough to compare Thompson’s performance with GOAT Michael Jordan as he highlighted that he has never seen MJ do things that Thompson did.
Speaking about the sensational performance, Kerr said, “I was one of the luckiest NBA players ever to play with Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, David Robinson, and some of the greatest players ever,”. Further, he added, “As many spectacular things as Michael did, which he did nightly, I never saw him do that.”
Thompson’s record 37 points quarter ended in a 52 point game against the Kings. But the highlight of the game was Thompson did not miss a shot in that quarter. He dropped all the 13 shots and that was something sensational for Steve Kerr.
