Steve Kerr not bothered about Charles Barkley’s criticism of the Golden State Warriors following their early defeat against the Phoenix Suns

Former NBA superstar turned analyst Charles Barkley ruffled a lot of feathers with his half-time analysis of the Golden State Warriors’ opening game against the Phoenix Suns. Barkley called the Warriors cooked at half-time when they were down by 15 points. But Stephen Curry’s men took the lead in the third quarter. Although they lost the match 108-105 in the end, they gave a decent fight.

However, Warriors coach Steve Kerr isn’t much bothered about Barkley’s statements as he understands how often he misfires his predictions. During an interview with the 95.7 The Game, Kerr spoke about Barkley’s criticism of his team and he shared that the former Phoenix star has a poor rate of getting predictions right and hence he isn’t too concerned.

“Well, I used to work with Charles and his predictions are about 90% off. His hit rate is probably about 5-7%, so I’m feeling pretty good about that,” Kerr stated.

The Warriors coach was happy with his team’s performance last night despite the defeat. He feels that the team will only get better from here and hopes that they show their true colours within the next three or four weeks. Overall, Kerr expects massive improvement from the roster but he is happy with how things shaped up on their opening night.

“I like what I see. Obviously, last night didn’t go the way we wanted but we’re going to be a lot better in three or four weeks. I think this team has a chance to be really, really good,” he added.

The Warriors will now play on Friday night against the Sacramento Kings.

During his criticism of the Warriors, Barkley shared how it is an ageing roster. He even called them the fourth-best team in California. He said that the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and the Sacramento Kings are better than the Warriors in the Western Conference.

“The Warriors are the fourth-best team in California, in my opinion. Old people don’t get better, they just get older. I just don’t like their team going forward. They’ve had a great run, great organization, but the Lakers, Sacramento, and the Clippers are all better than the Warriors,” Barkley shared.

While the Lakers eliminated the Warriors last season and one can agree that they are better, the Clippers and the Kings have a lot to prove. The Warriors eliminated the Kings in the playoffs last season and the Clippers also suffered a first-round exit.
