Steph Curry revealed how the cultural attachment at Golden State Warriors made him stay

Last season was not great for the Golden State Warriors as they struggled to get going despite Steph Curry performing at an MVP level. Curry dropped masterclass performances day in, day out but still, the Warriors struggled and eventually failed to qualify for the playoffs.

Therefore a lot of fans, experts and journalists thought that Curry could be on his way out from GSW. Some even rumoured that he will join another NBA team during this offseason. But Steve Kerr and the Warriors management were sure that the 33-year-old has a cultural bond with the team and won’t leave the franchise in such a manner. And they were absolutely correct with their belief.

In a  recent interview, the Chef spoke at length on various topics starting from drafting rookies, title windows, acquiring names and much more. But his commitment and loyalty to GSW stood out the most.

The Warriors talisman explained, “It’s one of those things where you set your priority list on how you want to go about it and what’s really important. That takes some time to really identify.”

Curry has signed a huge $215 million four-year extension with the franchise. But there were questions when the Point Guard snubbed a three-year deal last season. A lot of experts started speculating that Curry is looking to jump ship and will be joining a heavyweight like the Lakers or the Nets. They thought that he would swap shirts for winning his fourth NBA title, but the 33-year-old proved them wrong. He revealed that he has a cultural attachment to the Bay Arena that won’t allow him to take such a step.

“For me at least, all those other kind of fantasies about playing somewhere else, whatever squad it would be with and who it would be with, kind of goes out the door knowing the culture that we built here. So it’s on me to maintain that culture,” Curry added, replying to those speculations.

The Warriors have added new players in Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga alongwith young players like James Wiseman and Jordan Poole, so they look like a team with a lot of upcoming stars. However, they also have experienced players like Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson. They just need to be sharper at both ends of the court and with Thompson’s return, Curry and Green will get more support. Hopefully, that will be enough to bring them back to winning ways in the upcoming season.
