This season’s draft class had some exciting talents and till now the rookies have not disappointed with their performance barring a few. Some of them have made a name for themselves and have also played big roles. The second overall pick, Jalen Green was drafted by the Houston Rockets and the youngster has started his NBA campaign with a bang.
Recently Green featured in the rising stars game and there he caught the eye of Shaquille O’Neal, who had big praises for the talented youngster.
The Houston Rockets are technically not featuring in the NBA to contest for the title. However, they have immense talent on their roster. They have all the talent present in their team and some of them can surely turn into superstars. Among all the youngsters Jalen Green is also right up there. His athletic style and high flying nature make him a fan favourite.
Jalen Gren was one of the seven players in the rookie backcourt for the Rising Stars game. There Shaq was impressed with his gameplay as he discussed him on TNT. Shaq feels that the youngster can turn into a superstar someday.
Shaquille O’Neal said, “I want to say something that’s going to sound strange.” He continued, “Once he learns how to play ‘basketball’ he is going to be a star. Of course, he can play, he is talented. But he’s each time to get to a different level, you have to readjust your game and learn how to play.”
The former Lakers man feels that once Green learns to slow down and understands who he wants to be in the NBA, he can be the next big thing in the league in coming years.
“Not all about dunking, not only about flashy players. Once he learns to slow down, develop his game, say this is who I want to be as an NBA player, he definitely going to be a superstar.”
The 19-year-old shooting guard has the right attitude to do things in the NBA. His basketball IQ is also pretty good but there are a few aspects that he would like to improve in the coming years.
It will be interesting to follow Jalen Green’s rise with the Houston Rockets and check whether Shaquille O’Neal’s prediction comes right or not.
