The second week of March had some very interesting games as the Milwaukee Bucks continue to take the lead, although they lost their Sunday fixture against the Phoenix Suns.
The Bucks played without the Greek Freak who had to sit out of the game following a knee injury. The match, which ended 131-140, saw Phoenix Suns player, Ricky Rubio, make a triple-double, the first by any Phoenix Suns Player since 2005. The Bucks side did not play a bad game with Khris Middleton making 39 points.
The Suns established dominance earlier in the game, leading the first quarter. That same day, the Houston Rockets lost to Orlando Magic 126-106 as Los Angeles Lakers established themselves as the king of Los Angeles after beating the Los Angeles Clippers with the help of Anthony Davis who scored 30 points and LeBron James who made 28. The game ended the Clippers 6 game winning streak.
On Monday the Bucks again lost to the Denver Nuggets 95-109 as Giannis Antetokounmpo was again not on the court, still dealing with a knee injury.
Despite their back-to-back losses, the Bucks continue to lead the season with the most wins, having won 53 matches so far. Elsewhere, the Toronto Raptors wreaked havoc in the Salt Lake City, defeating the Utah Jazz 101-92. The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Charlotte Hornets on the same day 143-138.
Tuesday saw the Rockets winning their match against the Minnesota Spurs, finishing 117-111 as the Portland Trailblazers beat the Suns 121-105.
The Clippers paid a visit to San Francisco and defeated the Golden State Warriors 131-107, while the Brooklyn Nets aced the Lakers with just 2 points, ending 104-102.
On Wednesday ushered in a new turn of events as the NBA season had to be suspended after a Utah Jazz player, Rudy Gobert, tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Utah Jazz were scheduled to play against Oklahoma City Thunder. The suspension also affected the game scheduled between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Sacramento Kings. Although, some games had already taken place before the suspension as the Miami Heats lost to the Hornets 98-109.
The NBA joins the list of sport organisations to suspend gameplay as a result of the coronavirus. The suspension is indefinite and the NBA Commission is expected to shed more light on the suspension soon. Although players are expected to continue training, they have been banned from receiving players from outside the state.
