Atlanta Hawks star Dejounte Murray is among the most talked played in the trade rumours. According to reports, many teams are interested in his services. The New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in the guard. Surprisingly, Murray’s former team San Antonio Spurs are also looking to bring him back.
The versatile guard played his first five seasons for Spurs and made his name there. If he joins the San Antonio Spurs, he will be reunited with coach Gregg Popovich. The youngster is open to return to San Antonio. “Pop is like a father to me, I would welcome that. But right now, I’m a Hawk, I’m going to stay professional and play the right way,” Murray said.
Murray made these comments on broadcast following the Hawks games against Spurs on Monday. The guard helped the Hawks beat the Spurs 109-99. Murray returned with 13 points and 13 rebounds in the victory.
The Hawks withstood the challenge against the phenomenon that is Victor Wembanyama ‘s solid performance. The youngster returned with 26 points in the last defeat.
With the trade deadline on February 8, there’s plenty of time left for Murray to decide his future. But one thing is for sure the guard will have multiple offers for him in the market. So it remains to be seen where the Murray will end up at the end of the trade window. Atlanta Hawks are 11th in the Eastern Conference with a record of 16-23. They will be keen to turn things around with a few moves.
The Hawks are looking to trade Murray before the trade deadline. However, they have some astronomical demand for the versatile guard. The Hawks are asking for two first-round picks in exchange for Murray. However, the asking price according to a few interested teams is a bit too high.
Meanwhile, Murray has also held back the trade move as he wants to land on a team that is contending for the playoffs. The two criteria have not been met together. The Spurs are desperate to get back Murray in this trade window. They need someone of his calibre who can handle the ball better. But it would be difficult for Spurs as they already own Atlanta’s two first-round picks from 2025 and 2027 and those may be too valuable for Murray.
