Despite an agreement to buy players in the NBA to resume postseason, Thursday’s NBA playoff games would not hold.
The players of Milwaukee Bucks had boycotted their game 5 of their series against Orlando Magic on Wednesday because of Jacob Blake’s shooting with the NBA canceling the other two games of the night.
Jacob Blake was shot 7 times in the back on Sunday by the police in Wisconsin but is now conscious and responding to treatment, albeit reports saying he may not walk again.
Discussions were held by players in what could have ended the season. Still, they have now decided to end the boycott after another meeting in the NBA bubble in Orlando on Thursday with Michael Jordan present in the discussion.
Despite the positive outcome, Thursday’s playoff games will not be played, but there are expectations and hope that the games will resume by the weekend.
Mike Bass, who is NBA executive vice president, made the confirmation in a statement.
Similarly, the WNBA postponed three of its Thursday games in the light of the incidents, as WNBA players also go into discussions.
Chicago Sky vs. Indiana Fever; Dallas Wings vs. New York Liberty; Las Vegas Aces vs. Seattle Storm are the games that have been postponed according to the WNBA.
Meanwhile, Portland Trail Blazers Damian Lillard left the NBA bubble in Orlando on Thursday in order to perform a further medical examination on a knee injury in his right leg.
The player will return to Portland after his team made the announcement on Wednesday and said that the player’s return to the NBA bubble in Orlando is unknown yet.
His injury came in the defeat to Los Angeles Lakers which is the game 4 of their series, the NBA player of the Seeding games also suffered a dislocated finger recently.
