Kevin Durant is a modern day great of the game. He is often known for his exceptional scoring ability. But when off the court he is a totally different personality who likes to reply to people on Twitter and call out experts when they make a questionable comment surrounding the NBA or on a particular topic.
Durant may have changed teams but he will never change his personality. Recently NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley criticized Durant’s game and spoke a lot about him. KD fired back at him on Twitter.
Barkley stated that LeBron James once said that he wanted to win a title with Dwyane Wade only to earn the respect of the older NBA players. He said something regarding Kobe Bryant too,but Kevin Durant does not feel LeBron said those things which were mentioned by Barkley. He then asks for a link to the article where all of LeBron’s quotes are mentioned, firing back to Barkley.
“[LeBron] says, ‘I had to win a championship without D-Wade to get old heads’ respect.’ Kobe Bryant says, ‘I have to win a championship without Shaq to get these old heads off my back.’ I hold Kevin Durant to the same criteria,” Barkley said on a video.
In response to that, KD tweeted, “I don’t remember Bron saying this,” Durant posted on his Twitter account. “Somebody link me to the article.”
It is true that players often get criticized for winning trophies with a stacked lineup that already has another superstar. SImilarly Kevin Durant’s rings are not rated so highly as they should have been only because he had Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson by his side. Similarly LeBron James had to move away from Dwyane Wade and win a Championship to prove his greatness in the NBA.
It will be interesting to see how things turn out for Kevin Durant as he has moved out of Brooklyn Nets to join Phoenix Suns. However he has joined forces with Chris Paul and superstar Devin Booker, it remains to be seem if the trio can guide Phoenix to their first ever NBA Championship this season or not. For now the Suns must be focused on winning as many games as possible to climb up the ladder and then make a deep playoffs run with the intention of winning it all.
