The Phoenix Suns wrote history when they defeated the Los Angeles Clippers to win the Western Conference finals 4-2 and have also booked a place in the NBA finals for the first time since 19993. It was total domination from Monty Williams’ and his men as they won Game 6 130-103 at the Staples Center.
Devin Booker and Chris Paul were the driving force behind the Suns once again as they combined to score 63 points. D Book got 22 points while Chris Paul had a memorable night dropping 41 points. The Suns shot 56% from the field and did not allow the Clippers to come close to their score. They always maintained a healthy double-digit lead throughout the game.
For the Clippers, they were once again without Kawhi Leonard and Paul George came up with another 21 points, nine rebounds game but it was not enough to overturn the deficit. He did not shot well as he managed 6-15 from the field and connected only one three out of six attempts. Reggie Jackson who has been the star for the Clippers in this postseason also had a tough outing. Meanwhile, Marcus Morris with 26 points ended the night as the high scorer for the Clippers.
After the win, there were scenes of emotions and ecstasy from the Suns, be it the players, the coaching staff or even the management. They have come to this stage only because of the bond created by Chris Paul and Devin Booker. CP3 has had an immense impact on the whole roster and the 24-year-old is no different. D Book explained what the Point God has taught him ever since watching him on television to playing with him on the backcourt.
He said, “Just watching the game since I was 8 years old since he has been in the NBA just being a straight fan.” He added saying, “It’s kind of strange. Like growing up literally being a fanboy of him, and now being next to him in the backcourt. It’s just crazy how life comes, full circle.”
Chris Paul has been nothing short of a metronome for the Suns as a whole. He has been their guardian angel and the journey does not end here. Monty Williams and his men are ready to win the Championship as they will play either Milwaukee Bucks or the Atlanta Hawks.
