Lonzo Ball has been a key player for the New Orleans Pelicans in the last few years ever since he got traded from the Los Angeles Lakers. Ball alongwith Brandon Ingram and others were traded to the Pelicans in exchange for Anthony Davis. This move was forced as the Lakers did not make it to the playoffs and the organisation felt that they did not provide enough support to LeBron James.
Due to those trades, the Pelicans became a very exciting unit with young players like Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram and Zio Williamson. Ball, who is currently known for his exceptional skills, did not have a smooth start to his NBA career. Drafted by the Lakers as the overall second pick, people had high expectations from Ball.
While he showed his playmaking skills, he was often criticised for too many turnovers. However gradually he developed into a complete player when he improved his jumper and perimeter defence.
The 23-year-old in an interview revealed how LeBron James’ advice helped him during his time with the Lakers. He revealed, “I think the best advice I got is from Bron (LeBron James) so far. He sat me down one time in the locker room and just he’s you know, obviously, he’s been through everything. He kind of knew all the crazy stuff that I was going through when I first got to the league, and he told me just to keep the main thing the main thing.”
“That’s probably stuck with me the most anything everybody anybody’s ever told me just because you know he’s right you know once you take care of what you got to take care of on the court and everything else falls in place,” he added.
The NOLA point-guard has developed leaps and bounds in these two years. Ball has had a 40% three point shooting accuracy and proving that he is a very effective player. With Ball all set to enter free agency a lot of NBA teams will be looking at his exceptional playmaking skills coupled with his improved shooting from behind the arc.
Some rumours also claim that the Lakers may go on a revamp and may need a reliable point guard which may allow us to see a reunion between Ball and LeBron.
