The Golden State Warriors have mostly been great this season as we saw the return of the Splash Brothers with Klay Thompson returning from injury after a long time. However, the star who has emerged under the radar has to be Jordan Poole, who despite playing sensationally was not named among the three finalists for NBA‘s Most Improved Player award.
Poole has been fantastic as he has never allowed Steve Kerr to miss the likes of Thompson or Curry when they were not allowed. Poole has already shown signs of developing into an elite shooter.
However teammate Draymond Green has shared how he is going to start a petition on Change.org to include Poole’s name in that list courtesy of his spectacular performances. Green feels that the nominees picked by the media are nowhere near correct. He backs the young point guard as he said, “If Jordan Poole isn’t the Most Improved Player, the NBA really needs to relook at their process. You cannot find a guy on that list who has made a bigger improvement. I don’t care. If he’s not the ‘Most Improved Player,’ then let’s rename the award to who we see as more electrifying and who we see may have a bigger impact on their team. That’s not the name of the award.”
Draymond Green feels that these awards are mostly given by media on the basis of who is the more electrifying star and who makes it to the All-Star game. He shared that the Most Improved Player award should not be based on that rather it should be based on numbers.
“So if we’re going off the name of the award, it’s Jordan Poole. If it’s not Jordan Poole, I’m starting a petition on Change.org to rename these awards. It’s just not accurate,” Green added.
The Warriors have had a fantastic start to the playoffs with two great wins over the Denver Nuggets. Jordan Poole started both the matches and have dropped 30 and 29 points respectively in the first two matches against the Nuggets as he started ahead of Stephen Curry. The Warriors already have a 2-0 lead and they recently won their second match on the bounce beating Jokic and company 126-106 as they inch closer to wrapping up the first round series.
