NBA legend Charles Barkley backs OKC Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to start the All-Star game after his fantastic performances

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been an absolute baller for the Oklahoma City Thunder this season. He has caught everyone’s attention with the most number of 30 point games this season and many people believe that he is finally hitting his prime. His numbers have escalated majorly and it has been nothing but sensational for the Thunder.

While many people are talking about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, former NBA legend Charles Barkley also decided to talk about him. Barkley has been super impressed with the youngsters, which does not happen so often but this time he is very impressed by what Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has achieved this season. He believes that the Thunder youngsters has every right to start the All-Star game coming up considering his spectacular numbers.

Barkley is one such personality who openly criticized players and has been very critical about most of them. But here Barkley was honest with his feelings as she was deeply impressed by the Thunder star. Considering how he has played there’s absolutely nothing that can stop the youngster from Kentucky to start the All-Star game.

Recently on the Bleacher Report’s podcast “Taylor Rooks X,” Barkley shared his thoughts on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and soon it became viral as many people agreed with Barkely completely. “Let me tell you something right now: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander better be starting in the damn All-Star game this year. I’m saying that right now.”

If Shai Gilgeous-Alexander makes the All-Star it will be his first time in his five year career. While scoring has always been his forte, consistent scores have not come till now due to injury concerns. Apart from the All-Star he is also in contention to win the Most Improved award as he has taken a huge jump in terms of numbers from last season.

The 24-year-old guard from Kentucky is only behind Luka Doncic and Stephen Curry in terms of scoring in the NBA this season. He is averaging 31.1 points, 6.1 assists, 4.9 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.2 blocks. He is also shooting at 50.6%.

Despite all his heroic exploits, the Oklahoma City Thunder remains very below par franchise as they have struggled to secure wins. The Thunder are currently 12th in the Western Conference. Currently they hold a 9-13 record and have finally won a game against the San Antonio Spurs after two consecutive losses against the Houston Rockets and the New Orleans Pelicans. Thunder have never managed to build a winning streak for more than two games and that has been a concern for them this season.
