Jaylen Brown has been a superstar for Boston Celtics this season and with Kemba Walker missing for the early part of the season and Jayson Tatum missing now, Brown has been the main man getting the buckets for Brad Stevens’ side.
The Celtics All-Star has been out since January 9th after being tested positive for the coronavirus. Since that time Brown has upped his game to a higher level. Although Stevens’ men lost consecutive matches to the Philadelphia 76ers, they had made a resounding comeback against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Celtics defeated the Cavs who have been in great form this season and the centre of attraction was Brown. The Celtics managed to beat the Cavs with a scoreline of 141-103.
It was a historic performance from Celtics’ shooting guard Jaylen Brown who led from the front in the Celtics’ win over the Cavaliers. Brown was off the blocks very quickly and it only took him 19 minutes to score 33 points on 13/20 shooting from the field. The 24-year-old registered a new landmark NBA record for scoring the most points scored in fewer than 20 minutes since the introduction of the shot clock in the NBA.
The third-pick of the 2016 NBA Draft has been immense for the Celtics this season and one of the main reasons for their success in recent times as well. The 24-year-old has set his personal best by scoring consecutive four matches with 25 points. This season is the best season for Brown, averaging 26.9 points (career-high), 3.7 assists (career-high), 1.4 steals (career-high) and 6 rebounds per game.
After his winning performance, Brown was lauded by fans all around the globe and even 11-time champion and NBA legend Bill Russell took notice and appreciated him. It should be a huge confidence booster for the youngster who is having a great season and will look to build on it for Brad Stevens’ men. After the game, Russell wrote on Twitter, “Great playing tonight Jaylen Brown keep it going Celtics.”
The Celtics currently hold the record of 9 wins and 6 losses this season placing them in 3rd position in the Eastern Conference only behind Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers.
