NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas explains how he feels that he had the same game style as Suns veteran Chris Paul

The Phoenix Suns have come a long way in the NBA, from not qualifying for the playoffs in the bubble in Orlando to reaching the Finals, it has been a proper journey for the team. Although they fell short and despite having the advantage of 0-2, they simply lost to a better and hungrier team in the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks won consecutive four matches in the Finals to clinch the NBA Championship ending a 50-year drought.

Coming back to the Suns, their evolution from last season depends a lot on Chris Paul who joined the franchise ahead of this season. The veteran guard has added more balance to the team and his presence has given more security and confidence to the players. Along with chief coach Monty Williams, the players also listened to CP3 as if he was also a part of the coaching staff. He guided the young Suns team really well and the team showed great improvement this season. He formed a great partnership with Devin Booker, the young sensation is turning out to be one of the faces of the NBA in the next couple of years.

While a lot of people before the start of the season felt that the 36-year-old’s time at the NBA was up and did not pay much heed to the signing. However, all of them were proved wrong when CP3 guided the team to the playoffs and as they crossed every hurdle it was a party for the Suns’ fans.

Former Detroit Pistons guard Isaiah Thomas is considered as one of the greatest guards to ever grace the NBA. His efficiency and longevity as a player made him enter the Hall of Fame. The 60-year-old hung up his boots after winning 2 NBA titles and 12 All-Star appearances. Thomas who has always been an admirer of CP3 believes that the Suns veteran plays a lot like him. However, he admitted that he was braver than Paul in clutch situations.

“I see a lot of my game [in Chris Paul] but I also see where I probably was a little bit bolder on the offensive side,” Thomas said in a recent interview. “In terms of like that knockout moment that you need where it’s like okay, I can pass it right now, but I’m going to make that 2 or 3 shot that’s gonna really break your heart, that’s gonna hurt your heart.”

The former Pistons legend was very true with his conviction of Chris Paul. The veteran guard finished Game 6 with a team-high of 26 points as they lost the Championship and the game by 105-98.
