Houston Rockets head coach Ime Udoka was hit with a $50,000 fine by the NBA on Thursday following his conduct during the team’s 120-111 loss to the Sacramento Kings in an NBA Cup game earlier this week.
The punishment stems from Udoka’s heated exchange with game officials, where he used profane language, failed to exit the court promptly after being ejected, and publicly criticized officiating during a post-game press conference.
Udoka’s frustration boiled over late in the fourth quarter when both he and forward Alperen Sengun were ejected with 1:52 remaining. Udoka later vented his displeasure with referee John Goble, telling reporters, “Missed calls, blatant missed calls right in front of you. You’re calling ticky-tack moving screens, little [expletive] like that, but you don’t want to call the obvious ones. Thought [Sengun] got fouled a few times… So I told [Goble] to get some [expletive] glasses and open your eyes.”
The fiery end to the game also saw forward Tari Eason fined $35,000 for throwing a towel and using inappropriate language toward a fan after the game. Meanwhile, Sengun was fined $15,000 for directing inappropriate language toward a game official.
