The Brooklyn Nets are in a spot of bother with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving both apparently making trade requests. However that does not look like happening any time soon. Many people feel that Durant and the Brooklyn Nets cannot work together anymore as the relationship has already broken and it is not fixable. But many feel that Durant may have to stay with the Nets as none of the clubs are going to fulfill the demands made by the franchise.
NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith feels the Brooklyn Nets can be a proper competition if they manage to talk it out and keep Durant in the mix for the upcoming season. Smith believes that the Nets can come out of the Eastern Conference if they keep the roster intact from this season.
Recently on ESPN’s First Take podcast Stephen A. Smith shared how the Brooklyn Nets will be a contender for the NBA Championship if they keep the important players together for the upcoming season. “I got Ben Simmons, I got Kyrie Irving, I got KD. You know what I got with that? I got arguably the favorites to win the East,” Stephen A. Smith opined.
Smith feels that none of the franchises will be paying up for Kevin Durant as the Nets are making exceptional demands which are way beyond imagination for franchises who were genuinely interested in Durantula. So he feels that Durant staying makes the nets an instant contender for the NBA title.
“You ain’t going no damn place this season. Maybe next summer we can talk about this. You gonna get me this year with a full team on the court. Kevin Durant stays here. If I’m Joe Tsai, your ass ain’t going nowhere. You staying right here.”
It is not an outrageous opinion from Smith as the Nets have players like Ben Simmons who will pair up with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. The trio can definitely be one of the best in the league but obviously it depends on a lot of things before we get to the start of the new season.
Simmons will be all set to make his debut for the Nets after a long time and if Kyrie and Durant stays where they are then surely the Nets will explode and be a team to beat in the Eatern Conference.
