It has been a slow start for Ben Simmons who is very motivated to make a difference for the Brooklyn Nets this season. Simmons has shown signs of promise but he is still far away from his best shape and is due a big performance in the coming games.
There have been various questions on the Brooklyn Nets during the offseason. Their star players Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant were not happy with the organization. Durant even requested for a trade initially and even Kyrie was looking for a way out. However later in the offseason they decided to give it another shot.
They also had the uncertainty of Ben Simmons who was on the sidelines ever since he joined the Nets. He could not even join the action during the playoffs when the team really needed him. But with the team sticking to each other, things have gotten a lot better as they decided to work with each other and run it back as a team.
However with the start of the ben Simmons have been fouled out a few times and that has been a concern for the Nets as they have had a topsy turvy start. But NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith feels that fouling out in games shows that Simmons wants to be in the game and is giving his all. He shares how the Australian got fouled out in the recent match and feels that he will gradually achieve his best shape and form but before that people need to support him.
“To see you ticked off that you got called for fouls and you’re fouling out of games, shows me that you want to be in the damn game. We have to crawl before we walk, we gotta take crumbs when we can get’em, the man wants to play,” Smith acknowledged.
Recently Simmons was fouled out in their loss against the Memphis Grizzlies and he was visibly very frustrated. The one positive thing about him was his competitiveness as he called out the NBA referees for making a few errors with their foul calls. The Brooklyn Nets will be hoping that Simmons comes out with that aggressiveness and given his defensive prowess they will have someone who can dominate the court and also produce some nice passes for his teammates.
In three games so far, Simmons is averaging 5.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game.It has been a slow start but his main aim will be to reduce the fouls first and then look at other things.
