NBA Analyst and famous TV personality Stephen A. Smith believes that Giannis Antetokounmpo will make the New York Knicks great again. Smith who is a Knicks fan is praying that the Greek Freak decides to leave Milwaukee and join the Knicks which will elevate the team drastically.
Smith shared his thoughts on his recent episode of “First Take’ where he told Shannon Sharpe that the Madison Square Garden is the perfect place for Giannis to restart his career after the talisman revealed that he is open to moves if a better situation arises.
‘If he [Antetokounmpo] is agitated and he’s willing to leave, the New York Knicks might have a chance of getting help. We need all the help we need and I’m a die-hard, lifelong New York Knicks fan. We need a superstar in New York City. I pray for Giannis to come to New York,” Smith stated.
Antetkounmpo’s recent interview where he shared that he is open to a move away from Milwaukee Bucks if the situation is better for him to win the NBA Championship shows his desperation to bag the trophy again. But it also raised fire as people started speculating that Antetokounmpo might leave the franchise in search of greener pastures.
The two-time NBA MVP has a player option to seek other opportunities after the 2024-25 season. He will evaluate the progress made by the franchise and will duly take a call on his future. While there is no reason to question his loyalty to the Milwaukee Bucks just yet but the Greek Freak wants to keep challenging and winning the NBA Championship. He is willing to do whatever in his power to achieve that.
It has not been great for Antetokounmpo and his men after winning the 2020-21 NBA Championship. They have had a couple of rough playoffs including last season when they finished at the top of the Eastern Conference and still were knocked out in the first round against the Miami Heat. It is clear that the Bucks have massively underperformed, something that is concerning for the franchise and also for Antetkounmpo.
